Heat rate and efficiency converter
Convert a generator or power plant heat rate in Btu/kWh, kJ/kWh or MJ/kWh to electric efficiency in percent, and back.

Heat rate is the fuel energy needed to make 1 kWh of electricity, so a lower heat rate means higher efficiency. 3,412 Btu is the energy in 1 kWh.
Keep the fuel heating value basis the same (higher heating value, HHV, or lower heating value, LHV) when you compare heat rates or efficiencies.
